About Sadie’s Ward
Sadie’s Ward pays tribute to Sadie Farrell (Badass who ruled the LES in the 1860’s) and its predecessor, The Whiskey Ward.
The Whiskey Ward held down the Lower East Side for almost 24 years and was about to shut its doors before Stephanie, a neighbor, employee, and advocate for keeping gentrification out of the LES asked to continue the legacy.
The team at Sadie's Ward worked together to preserve something so many people in the neighborhood found sacred. The Whiskey Ward wasn’t your typical bar; it embraced people from all walks of life to come together, drink whiskey, shoot pool, and feel at home.
Sadie’s Ward is looking forward to continuing that tradition and with the help of the community, we want to add to that 24 year legacy, making 121 Essex a staple in the LES for many more years to come!
We look forward to you being a part of our journey and our Ward family.
Cheers!
